I've been walking/ You've been hiding/ And you look half-dead half the time.

maybe it's cause i'm leaving ib soon, but everyone's become reeeeeeeeeeeally open with me. telling me their fears, wants, things i'm pretty sure they'll never tell anyone else. not even their closest friends maybe, cause i know, sometimes it's less of a war to confide in strangers cause you know you'll never see them again.

and we talked about how forever is. about how people come and people go; also about how all this will just be a phase in my youth, mere stepping-stone in my life but a permanent wall-sticker on theirs. i always knew the f&b industry isn't something any capable person should or would or can do long-time. j said she wasn't sure what's next maybe ten years down and that probably applies to everyone at ib too.

but we never linger too long on them because i am more interesting with my uni. so we talk about my future and then it's like a light goes out in their (her) eyes.

it kind of made me wonder why i am so worried over other people's futures, when my own is equally uncertain. i mean so what if i get my degree? cause the market i'm catapulting into looks upwards of masters. and the cabby i discussed options with sighed about yesterday and tomorrow and how we pay more than we earn nowadays. like he said (and i quite agree), it's almost as though you need to buy your way up into a good life, rather than work your way there.
